Meet the Characters You Can Play As!

The Arphil

Occupation: Rogue

Arphils are a race that shares a resemblance to the canine family. They have an elongated snout, are covered in short hair, and have shortened legs which allow them to walk on all four limbs as easily as they walk on two. They have exceptional hearing and are a friendly race, although they can be considered irritating to some. They have a particular affinity with the Bargwhy and are, as often as not, seen paired with one.

The Human

Occupation: Rogue

Humans are basically self-explanatory and are used as the middle line or the average for all of the races. That is not to say that humans are average in A’Kyria. Most human adventurers tend to be the “top of their class” in whatever they choose to do. Humans have the greatest range in societal beliefs, political views and social moralities and are more adaptable than other races. Other races deal with humans on a society-by-society basis since they are unsure how they will be received by each human occupied area.

The Bargwhy

Occupation: Warrior

Bargwhy are large creatures who are known to deal with others in a fair, even and methodical manner. They are very strong, but slow, so their movement rate is only 2/3rds of the number computed. They rarely rouse to a state of anger (unless they have been physically wounded) and are completely oblivious to insults; however, they are excellent fighters, quick and methodical as the need arises. They are very protective of friends and are usually friendly with Arphils, as their races share a long history of cooperating with each other.

The Dwarf

Occupation: Warrior

Dwarves are short stocky creatures with grand facial hair and a powerful build. They prefer living underground and are renowned as miners and builders in stone and metal. They distrust everyone that is not a Dwarf, but if you do gain their friendship and trust, you will have it unconditionally through generations. They love to fight, brawl and drink, not necessarily in that order.

The Sintis-Man

Occupation: Warrior

Sintis-Men are an insectoid race with a hard exoskeleton and an enigmatic personality. They rarely show emotion of any kind, though it is rumored that they carry extreme emotions always held in check. Their race language is pheromone based and due to the way their mouth is formed, they cannot yell or speak very loud. They have no designation for male or female and the method of reproduction is shrouded in mystery. They are quick and agile. Their chitin exoskeleton gives them an Armor Factor (AF) based on their Health score, as listed in the chart found under Sintis-Man Abilities.

The Cheveroid

Occupation: Wizard

Cheveroids are a quiet, small, ruthless alien race that has grown to hate just about everything because of their size. They are not kind to those races or individuals that are smaller than they are and they tend to be contemptuous and arrogant to those who are larger than they are. Little is known of Cheveroids beyond their ability to avoid confrontation and an aptitude to do fine work with their hands.

The Rawg’Mai

Occupation: Wizard

Rawg’Mai are similar in appearance to a humanoid version of a traditional lizard. They do not have scales, but they have leathery skin in various colors and long snouts with sets of stripes running down either side of their body from the tip of their snouts to the end of their full-length tails. The females are larger and more dominant than the males. Overall, they are a friendly and fair-dealing race; however, they do not like crowds or small spaces for fear of having their tails stepped on.

The Gnome

Occupation: Wizard

Gnomes are short stocky creatures with a profound curiosity for mechanical objects. They look at everything from a mechanical point of view and love to delve into how things work, how to make it better, etc. This curiosity borders on obsession, but has established Gnomes as the foremost inventors of A’Kyria. It also makes gnomes a bit of a nuisance because they are always taking things apart to find out how they work. Other races tend to be wary of gnomes because they are just as curious about people and their things, which can often lead to missing items at inopportune times; although these items are often returned in better condition than when they were “borrowed”.

The Elf

Occupation: Wizard

Elves are a race of humanoid-looking creatures with pointed ears and sharp facial features. They do not grow beards or any other type of facial or body hair save that which grows on their head. Elves tend to be patient and withdrawn from other races, seeking to hone particular skills to perfection. Only their young feel the desire to go adventuring and “see the world”. Once they have had their fill, they return to a life of quiet contemplation and daily, relatively mundane, pursuits.
